Baked ziti is a popular Italian-American comfort food casserole made with tube-shaped pasta (ziti), tomato-based marinara sauce, and plenty of melted cheese.
Boil the Ziti pasta for 8 minutes, drain then return to the pot
Saute the onions and peppers in a large hot pan until softened, then add the garlic and seasonings. Cook for 1 minute then add the ground beef and pork.
While the meat is cooking grate your parmesan and mozzarella cheese, then mix half of the cheeses with the ricotta cheese and dried parsley.
Once the meat is almost fully cooked stir half of the mixture into the cooked ziti pasta and place it in your lightly greased baking dish.
Top the ziti with the ricotta cheese mixture, followed by the remaining meat mixture, and the remaining grated parmesan and mozzarella cheeses on top.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes
Notes
Enjoyed best with a green salad and crispy garlic bread!
