Whether you’re looking to cook a gourmet burger at home or find the best local patty in town, the “hamburger” has evolved from a simple fast-food staple into a versatile culinary canvas.
Let’s start with some 80/20 ground beef formed into 1/3 lb patties. Slice 1 large onion and place evenly in a baking dish. I’m using an 11×15 baking dish here. Place the burger patties on top of the sliced onions. Season with salt and pepper. Top the hemburger patties with 8 oz sliced mushrooms, and 1 packet of Lipton onion soup mix.
Top each hamburger patty with 1 slice of swiss cheese and a large pat of garlic and herb butter. Bake for 35-40 minutes at 350 degrees. Enjoy.
