To make a Gyro at home, you’ll need ground beef, ground lamb, garlic, onion, marjoram, rosemary, salt, and pepper.
Blend all of the Gyro meat ingredients in a food processor until it’s a smooth, paste consistency. Add the meat mixture to a loaf pan and bake. Once the meat cools a bit, you can slice it intothin strips to prepare your sandwich on pita bread. Yum!
Gyro Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground lamb
- 1 tbsp garlic minced
- 1 tbsp marjoram dried
- 1 tbsp rosemary ground
- 2 tsp Kosher salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Pre heat oven to 325 degrees.
- Place the onions in a food processor and process for 10-15 seconds. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, add the lamb, beef, garlic, processed onions, and sesasonings.
- Add all ingrediets to food processor and process til smooth. Stop the processor as needed to scrape down sides of bowl.
- Once everything is all blended together, place the meat mince into a loaf pan and shape into a meatloaf.
- Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and drain off any fat. Slice and serve on pita bread with tzatziki sauce, chopped onion, tomatoes and feta cheese.
